THE BIRDQUEEN TAROT REVIEW

The Birdqueen Tarot has 78 positive and optimistic cards illustrated without the use of the human form – through animals, birds, insects and plants. The majors are linked with an appropriate animal, while the suits are represented by plants (Pentacles), sea creatures (Cups), insects (Wands) and birds are Keys (adapted from Swords). Self-published and available from the artist.

THE BIRDQUEEN TAROT CARD DETAILS

The 8-bit Tarot was started as an homage to the video games the artist grew up with, imagining the Rider-Waite tarot as if it were designed by a video game graphics artist. The characters on the cards are rounded and cartoony, the colors bright, the artfully pixellated, and the images are drawn directly using the Rider-Waite as a guide. The fun and feisty 8-Bit Tarot is a tribute to classic arcade games of the ’80s, with digitally reproduced images from the classic Rider-Waite Tarot reimagined pixel by pixel by artist Indigo Kelleigh.
