TAROT REVIEW
Ferret Tarot, an amusing, unique, and readable Tarot that focuses on the perspective of the ferret and its life, is a fun and unique Tarot. The Rider-Waite is loosely used as a basis for the symbolism in the 78 cards. The cards are printed in black and white on the non-laminated card.
TAROT CARD DETAILS
Ferret cards can be printed in black or white on the non-laminated card. The drawings are simple and sparse with very little background detail. Although the focus is on the ferret, the perspective can be changed to include anthropomorphized ferrets (9 of Wands, 7 of Swords, and 8 of Swords), ferrets that have been humanized (Strength, Ten of Pentacles), ferrets with traditional tarot poses (Star, Hermit) or just plain funny ferrets (8 of Pentacles, Temperance, Emperor). The Tower is my favorite card. It shows two ferrets holding onto a bag of kibble while the other zips away. The Emperor is a male ferret with a lot of young ferrets. Although the deck’s symbolism has been slightly altered, the foundation is still based on Rider-Waite so it can be used for both readings and amusement. The 78 cards, plus two additionals: the signed and numbered title card, as well as a card with a sample, spreads like the Weasel dance, Ferret Stomp, and Three Card Dook have a reversible design and come in a Tarot pouch. The cards are printed on unsealed white card stock. These cards don’t have the fancy lamination and rounded edges of expensively made decks. This means that they require extra care, especially on damp surfaces. The artist suggests that there is an advantage to these cards: you can color them yourself using pencil, felt pens, paint, or even paint, and then spray a fixative to set the colors.
